They can block a lot of spam but can't block it all as spammers are continuously changing tactics. I did it once, many years ago - I clicked on the link even. Email is, by its very nature, a medium that constantly assaults your attention, so it's easy to open such emails automatically and even respond to them without sufficient thought.
